Early Game 6 pages
Early game progression is dominated by exploring and looting. The world is full of magic loot, especially in new magic structures that can be found dotted across the lands. But be careful! Each magic structure is home to a powerful mage, who will not take kindly to you.
Scrolls will be your first taste of magic. While they can be consumed to cast the spell they hold, it is better to save them until you can inscribe it into a spell book, where it can be used repeatedly, via an Inscription Table >>>
In order to properly use a Spell Book, you must inscribe spells into it with the Inscription Table by using scrolls. Scrolls can be retrieved once put into a Spell Book, but it will uninscribe the spell. Beginner spell books can be crafted with basic materials.

Schools of Magic 11 pages
Each magical spell belong to a school of magic. Each school encapsulates a theme, both visually and functionally, and each have a Focus: a representative item used as a crafting ingredient. Furthermore, each school can be empowered by specific school related gear, allowing you to become a powerful master of a single school, or mix and match to become a jack of all trades.
The Fire school, with a Blaze Rod as its Focus, is centered around damage and damage over time.
The Ice school, with Frozen Bones as its Focus, is centered around damage and crowd control.
The Lightning school, with a Bottle o' Lightning as its Focus, is centered around concentrated damage.
The Holy school, with the Divine Pearl as its Focus, is centered around support, healing, and buffing allies.
The Ender school, with an Ender Pearl as its Focus, is themed around all things arcane and mystical, with spells that range from damage to utility to mobility.
The Blood school, with a Blood Vial as its Focus, is themed around evil; you will find elements of necromancy, wither, and blood magic here, with spells focusing on damage that buffs the caster.
The Evocation school, with an Emerald as its Focus, is themed around magical trickery and conjuration, covering the broadest range of offensive, defensive, and utility spells.
The Nature school, with a Poisonous Potato as its Focus, is focused on applying debuffs to enemies, with elements of damage to finish them off.
The Eldritch school is not like the others. It is an ancient and powerful way of magic, one that has all but been forgotten; you will be unable to immediately craft or cast Eldritch spells. However, shreds of ancient Eldritch manuscripts can still be found scattered throughout the world, and may even be pieced back together with the help of an echo shard.
Once a manuscript has been restored, it can be consumed to learn a single Eldritch spell, enabling the crafting and casting of it. After being learned, the Echo Shard is used as the focus.
Scrolls 2 pages
Scrolls can be found in chests, looted from mobs, or crafted. Each Scroll contains a spell with a level, similar to an enchanted book. Scrolls can be upgraded in the Arcane Anvil by combining them with the corresponding rarity of ink of their next level.
Scrolls can be used on their own to cast their spell, subverting mana costs and cooldown, but consuming the scroll in the process. Primarily, they are inscribed into spell books for continued use, or recycled via the Alchemist Cauldron to be turned into more useful spells.
Ink 6 pages
The most common of the inks (ergo the name), common ink can craft the lowest level of spells. If a spell's lowest level is above common, it cannot be crafted with common ink. The same goes for all other inks.
Less common than common, it can craft slightly more powerful spells.
The rare ink should be able to be found regularly in magic treasure chests or by killing spellcasting mobs.
The best place for epic ink and all other high rarity inks is from magic treasure or killing spellcasting mobs.
The most rare ink, it will craft the most powerful spells. Keep in mind, some spells have multiple legendary levels, requiring use of the Arcane Anvil to obtain them.

Late Game 10 pages
Late game is reached by obtaining netherite and vast quantities of basic resources, and powered by the Arcane Anvil.
The Arcane Anvil is the most powerful crafting station, used to level up your scrolls, upgrade armor and spell books, and imbue weapons with spells.

Upgrades are the final form of progression. By default, any armor as well as spell books can be upgraded.

Upon reaching nether level resources, you will unlock an entirely new dynamic to gaining power: The Scroll Forge

In order to continue progressing, keep an eye out for runestones in magical structures. Runestones are used to craft even more powerful armor. Class mages always drop a rune of their school.

Casting Implements 5 pages
Casting Implements are items that can be right-clicked (used) in order to cast your active spell. Most often, they also provide passive benefits, allowing for a dedicated wizard playstyle.

Many spell Books can be crafted from a combination of vanilla and arcane materials. Each further tier crafted increases the slot count of the spell book and often comes with extra bonuses, increasing the power and quantity of spells it can contain.

Named spell books can be found nestled in many corners of the world, often offering bonuses to lucky adventurers looking in the right places.
What may have once been a more powerful book has since rotted away, leaving but three pages. Yet, still more powerful than most Overworld spell books. They can be looted from equally rotten places all across the Overworld.
A regular book with a little blessing makes a suitable channel for divine magic. Building a reputation with the villagers, especially by freeing captives from the Archevoker, will ensure one falls into your hands eventually.
Every Blaze, unbeknownst to them, comes with one of these tucked away. The trick is killing them and hoping it doesn't turn into ash.

A strong magical energy still persists within the Rotten Spell Book. The book may be blessed anew if a proper remedy were applied.
Unique Spell Books 4 pages
Unique spell books are rare drops from certain mobs that come with spells inscribed, which cannot be removed or edited. Not every spell book can be manufactured -- it is called the arcane art, after all.
The spells in a unique spell book are locked, but can be improved. By combining a unique spell book in the Arcane Anvil with a higher-level scroll of the same spell from the spell book, you can raise the level of the locked spell.
A book full of foundational illager magick, the Grimoire of Evokation can be dropped by Evokers or their more powerful casting cousin, Archevokers.
An ancient book holding a host of dark spells, it can only be acquired by taking it from its undead owner.
